CALL FISICO 2021
INTERNATIONAL CALL for the 2021 edition of FISICO
Following the first zero edition that took place in February 2020, the direction of FISICO (Alba International Physical Theatre Festival), wants to hold a second edition to take place on 21st, 22nd and 23rd May 2021 in the city of Alba, Italy.
The call is directed to professional theatre companies staging physical theatre shows of various genres (dance theatre, gesture theatre, clown, mime). Shows must have a dramturgical strutcture of corporal expression without the use of spoken dialogue (or the use of dialogue to such an extent that the performance can be understood by an audience of any nationality).
The festival will select between 3 to 5 shows to be presented as part of the programme fo the festival. Given the current level of uncertainty the festival has preferred to mantain a level of flexibility on the number of shows that will be displayed. Selected companies will be asked to perform once a day for a total of 3 representations.
Shows will be staged in open-air or closed venues, with social distancing of the audience. Furthermore, in order to ensure maximum visibility to participating companies, with regard to professional operators and interested audiences unable to travel, the shows shall also be video recorded and distributed on a video distribution platform for a limited time.
In this 2021, FISICO will partner with British online magazine Fringe Review (www.fringereview.co.uk), Rialto Theatre of Brighton (www.rialtotheatre.co.uk), and Voilà Festival of London (www.voilafestival.co.uk) in o order to plant the seeds for the creation of a trans-European network dedicated to physical theatre. Selected shows will be reviewed by Fringe Review in English or Italian language in an unbiased way.
