A terrible indictment of the effects of war on all involved

|

My first show of the Fringe. I was not sure if I could cope with the theme – what happened to German women after the Russian conquest of Berlin in 1945 – and was unsure what ‘Le Coq style physical theatre’ entailed but was persuaded along by friends who had read the source book. A very strong performance, both physically and vocally, by Magda who drew us in to the fate of her – unnamed – woman and her compatriots. There were moments of light and shade to relieve the darkness of the story – which should be more widely known. A terrible indictment of the effects of war on all involved. The book group thought it was an excellent depiction of the book and I was not alone in having tears in my eyes at its conclusion. Highly recommended.
