A difficult show

|

On February 4th, my class and other classes went to the auditorium of Zanon to see a play called ‘Hamlet Prince of Sweden.’ It wasn’t what I expected from the story of Hamlet. Instead of just focusing on a prince wanting revenge, this play seemed more interested in showing off the ideas of Metatheater (which is like a play talking about itself!) and what theater was like in Elizabethan times (a long time ago when Shakespeare was writing!).
One thing that was really noticeable was how simple the stage was. There weren’t many props or lights, and surprisingly, there were no women actors. Even though the play had a lot of complicated ideas and metaphors that went over my head (like trying to understand a really tricky puzzle!), one thing really stood out: the actors were so passionate! They were completely into their roles and managed to stay serious even during parts that might have felt a little silly.
Overall, while I appreciated the actors’ dedication, the play itself was a bit confusing for me. I’d give ‘Hamlet Prince of Sweden’ a 5 out of 10 because the acting was good, but the story and presentation were hard to follow.
