A clever, frequently hilarious script

|

Backstage crises make good drama – and, in this case, comedy. A clever, frequently hilarious script and first-rate performances by two multi-talented actors, playing multiple roles (with help from one or two puppets) yield an entertaining show, drawing not only on Shakespeare but on his source, Saxo Grammaticus’ History of the Danes. (There’s a missed opportunity here: I was waiting for the bit where Hamlet woos and wins the hand of the Queen of Scotland.) Not sure whether or not one character’s saying that Romeo and Juliet don’t get married was a deliberate mistake.
